100k€ durch Investoren!
StarVault gab heute den Einstieg von zwei privaten Investoren bekannt, die für 100.000 Euro Aktien kaufen und StarVault damit deutlich weiterhelfen!
- "I am a hardcore player and investor - my interests meet in Mortal Online and I think it is a game perfectly positioned for the future. Besides the obvious talent and enthusiasm of the management, it has survived tough times and it is always a good sign. Mortal Online is unique, while its main competitors are busy guarding their own positions. The game world grows out of games like World of Warcraft and its clones, and looking for something new with more depth. This investment is well-timed for me and allows the company to take greater steps forward with a little more money. ", said William LW Nock.

- "We have previously announced that our game has seen a positive development in terms of interest from players around the world and this continues. To this we can now due to a lot of interest from foreign investors, the private placement at a price of 23 cents. We hope that our shareholders positvt look at this because it provides capital that we will be directly used to drive development forward.
With this extra reinforcement, we can take bigger steps in Mortal Online's development than what we have planned. We can make use of more programmers that we used before that knows our technology well. We may also use more so-called content artists through outsourcing which gives us interesting new content more regularly in the game, which promotes opportunities to attract players. "

I have optimized and built new systems to handle what info that gets sent to your client.
We managed to limit the amount sent, by a lot, but it is extremely difficult to know how much it will impact.
The re-write is thou, fairly large, and is currently getting tested on test and will have to stay there for a bit longer.
Speaking generally when you first load a character at a distance he will now cost less then 1/3 the bandwidth of what you have on live.
But the big thing IMO is the distance check when sending animation package, we can now control how far away people can see you do animation X. In large scale battles this will greatly reduce the package load on your poor interwebz.
We can now fairly easily change how and what gets loaded at what distance. It can be done during the daily downtime without any client patching. So you will probably be seeing a couple of those changes go in during the days following this patch.
* New update:
Due to feedback and monitoring from large scale battles, we have been able to gather more info on what is giving issues when having lots of people in fights causing different issues. As explained before the nodes/server handle the population without any problems in fact the top loads we are peaking at large battles which we have monitored is going close to 15% load. We can in other words support a lot more players per node. What we have found during these events is that clients cannot handle the packages very well. Due to this we have worked out a very good solution. In short we are adding lods on packages as well similar to how we have lods on meshes. Currently on live when having 100 people on screen and around you seeing a player far away off that is 20 pixels on your monitor, he send as much packages as the guy you are fighting in front of you. Since our game rely on heavy detailed combat system unlike any other mmo it requires a lot of frequent packages. Our new system will cap this in two ways, both distance and by a number of players. This means we can find a suitable amount of players where we cap the data in terms of how important it is for a player to get the data. For instance you don't really need much data other than hp and movement/rotation on a 20 pixel character far away from you. This is actually going on test tonight, and we are very excited to follow the progress on this. This should make a huge difference when it comes to large scale fights. As soon as this is tested and approved this will go live hopefully sometime next week.
We are also doing a server network upgrade on Monday 27th, this will improve the network tiers our server is using today. This may affect a large amount of our players in a very positive way, since it will allow for fewer jumps before reaching our server, this is very dependent on what isp players are using. But overall this is an improvement to lower overall latency for players world wide.
